Introducing SVÄRTAN, a limited edition IKEA collection created in collaboration with Swedish fashion and textile designer, Martin Bergström. Meaning ‘blackness’ in Swedish, SVÄRTAN is a modern interpretation of Indian culture and design, an approach that channels their unique aesthetic into luxurious and minimal pieces perfect for every home.
The intricate textures and patterns that Martin has created in collaboration with local design students use only shades of black, white and grey. If you have a more minimalist approach to homewares (like myself!) it means they work back effortlessly into your space, and they won’t hurt your bank account either. My picks from the collection were the textured wooden stool (also makes a handy side table) and the tealight candle holder, but the range also includes a beautiful array of textiles and decorative objects including glass bottles and bowls. After my trip to LA back in May, and a visit to the newly opened Apartment by The Line, I was inspired to add more texture and contrast to my space. These were just the thing to add a little graphic touch to my living room, and they even got my husbands seal of approval as well.
You can find the whole range online here, or pop into your local store to view it in person.
