While our Australian Summer is officially over, I'm already thinking about my next tropical getaway... I love the easy, carefree feeling on these types of trips. Whether it's a weekend by the beach or a week on a beautiful island, it's all about relaxing, indulging and being surrounded by nature.
Despite the fact that it's all about unwinding, packing for a Summer getaway is still serious business. The first time I went on an island holiday I took only one bikini (mistake!) and no where near enough sunscreen. With that in mind, here are a few of my essentials to helps you travel in comfort and style.
1. Versatile separates
I love these resort pieces from Maison du Maillot, an online store offering curated pieces from around the globe. They are comfortable, easy to travel with, but still feel stylish and luxurious. I also love to mix and match pieces like these back with chic basics, like a white crew neck t-shirt or my favourite cotton wide-leg trousers.
2. A straw hat
Sun protection is always high priority, and a wide-brim straw hat is my favourite way to avoid too much exposure. I have a few in different colours, but a natural weave with a black band is definitely a classic.
I learnt my lesson the hard way, and now I make sure I always travel with at least two swimsuits. Usually I like to take two different styles of bikini and a one-piece suit.
4. Comfortable shoes
You might end up being bare foot most of the time, but a good pair of leather sandals and a trusty pair of sneakers are a must-have for me.
Always the best accessory, and in this case, very necessary! I usually travel with 2-3 pairs that cover different styles/looks and allow
6. A light scarf/wrap
Perfect for a bit of extra sun protection when you're out and about, or a post-pool cover up. If I'm travelling via plane I always pop one in my hand luggage too.
7. Skincare kit
I always pack an SPF 50+ sunscreen for my face and body, a moisturiser, lip balm, insect repellent and facial mist.
Now to get packing!
